Knock Knock - Who's There?

I’ve got a long and busy Bank Holiday weekend coming up, starting with London hip hop station Itch FM’s Spring Jam party in Aldgate and culminating in Brixton on Sunday / Monday for both Cross The Tracks on a jazzy soulful tip and City Splash for a killer reggae line up. In between I’m heading up to Scotland for the second time this year (but definitely not the last, I’m there in June, July and August for various events). I’m there for the 25th Anniversary of Knockengorroch festival, one of my all time favourites and an integral event in the country’s cultural calendar.

I’ll tell you all about it afterwards, but if you happen to be going then do come and see me on the Sheiling stage, Saturday night from midnight. I’m also hoping to catch: Live French dub legend link up Zentone (High Tone + Zenzile), Cuban rapper, singer and flautist, La Dame Blanche; DNB dons Bad Company UK; sound system and rave legends Ragga Twins; Creole speaking experimentalists Dowdelin; old friends such as Cut Capers, Ed Cox, Stivs, Morphamish, the Samedia Shebeen crew, An Dannsa Dub -a wicked reggae meets folk band, The Langan Band, Sheelanagig and in fact the many flavours of folk they’ve got there as well as banging DJs, especially Ceephax Acid Crew! I’m just gutted I have to leave before the traditional all night Mungos Hi-Fi session they have on Sundays - this year with Marina P, Solo Banton & Aziza Jaye on the mic. Hopefully I’ll catch them jam at some point over the weekend though. Oh and do check out my mate The Honest Poet from down here in Cardiff, he’s a very talented up and coming singer / songwriter who is playing there also.
